Active Impact Investments
Active Impact Investments is a certified B Corporation based in Vancouver, BC, managing an early-stage venture fund that invests in seed-stage companies solving the biggest and most urgent environmental challenges of our time. Their portfolio is generating exceptional growth and they are seeking start-ups capable of achieving venture scale and world-changing impact.
Noteworthy funds investing in this space include Renewal Funds, Arctern, Cycle Capital, Investeco, and Amplify. Active Impact’s advantage is simple; they have world-class expertise in the two areas seed-stage founders need the most help: enterprise sales infrastructure and institutional talent attraction and retention. They are a certified BCorp that holds themselves accountable to a standard that attracts founders and allows them to punch above their weight class.
Their team has best-in-class skills to address operational gaps for founders and they’re willing to do the hard work until it yields results. They average 785 interactions per company per year and over 60% of their portfolio companies have asked them to join their Boards as Directors or Observers within a year of investment.
Active Impact has invested in 11 companies in North America (9 Canadian & 2 American). The companies in their portfolio have grown their revenue an average of 496% since Active Impact’s investment over an average holding period of 14 months.
Their biggest challenge is finding the most environmentally impactful high growth companies in North America to invest in. They are tackling this challenge by collaborating with exceptional accelerators such as CDL-Vancouver, MaRS, Urban X, and Spring Activator.
