Solarmass Energy Group
Solarmass Energy Group solarizes standard building materials to make solar power more accessible and more aesthetic. Starting with the Ergosun Integrated Solar Roof Tile, Solarmass have been able to seamlessly integrate solar power into a traditional concrete tile roof that is installed by existing trades, provides all the power of traditional solar panels, and blends invisibly into their customer’s beautiful homes.
Traction
Solarmass currently has distributors selling the Ergosun Integrated Solar Roof Tile in markets around the globe. Their geographic scope includes the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Poland, and Spain with new distributors being added regularly. Solarmass is poised for rapid commercial growth in 2020 and beyond.
Their biggest achievement so far is the pace of the adoption of their new products within the building industry. Solarmass is fortunate to have some wind at their back with legislation in regions such as California forcing home builders to add solar products to the homes they build. Leveraging this legislative support, they will be able to capture market share by highlighting the aesthetic appeal and technical advantages of the Ergosun product.
Solarmass’ real differentiating factor is the seamless integration of solar power into roofs, which is being done by only a few players. Their advantages in this regard come from the simplicity of installation and integration, as well as technically from a performance and cost basis.

The business has been privately funded to date, and remains closely held. They are now raising $4.5M USD. More than 30% of this round has already been committed.
The company is raising money primarily to support the rapid commercial expansion they are currently experiencing. The raised funds will be used to expand the sales and technical support teams as well as to fund working capital growth that comes with broad commercial roll out and growth.
They will also grow their sales team by adding regional sales personnel immediately. Additionally, they will add technical support staff, as required, to support the design and integration that comes on a project-by-project basis given the unique nature of every home being built.
Revenue Model
The Ergosun product is sold through regional distribution partners. With their partners, Solarmass and the distributor perform marketing and sales efforts together in each region. When opportunities arise, Solarmass has enabled the distributors to perform the final step of bonding their technology onto roof tiles so that the concrete tiles can be locally sourced and shipped over minimal distances. Transactionally, Solarmass sells the solar modules to their distributors, and from there the distributors sell the finished assembled tiles to a builder or homeowner.
